Dr. Klaus Schierhackl
Born in 1968
After graduating from Mödling secondary technical school (mechanical engineering), Klaus Schierhackl studied business management at the Vienna University of Economics and Business from 1987 to 1992. From 1991 to 1995, he was an assistant at the Institute for Transport, during which time he also completed his doctorate. From 1995 to 1997, Schierhackl worked in the organisation development department at MAN in Munich, after which he joined a consulting company specialising in logistics, and in 1997 he was appointed head of the toll department at ASFINAG. As part of his work abroad, Klaus Schierhackl maintained close contacts with ASECAP (Europäische Vereinigung mautfinanzierter Autobahnen, Brücken und Tunnels (European Association of Operators of Toll Road Infrastructures)) and with the specialist departments of the European Commission. From 2005 to 2007, Schierhackl was the managing director of ASFINAG Maut Service GmbH.
On 25 October 2007, Klaus Schierhackl was appointed Chairman of the Board of ASFINAG. He is primarily responsible for finances, accounting and controlling, toll and international business.
From 2011 to 2013 Klaus Schierhackl was the president of ASECAP. Since 2011, he has been on the board of directors of the globally active IBTTA (International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association), where Schierhackl has held the position of International Vice President since 2017. Since the summer of 2015, Schierhackl has also been a member of the ERTICO (European Road Transport Telematics Implementation Coordination Organisation) supervisory board.
