In addition to the tolling machines described above, toll stations at the A 13 Brenner motorway, the A 10 Tauern motorway and the A9 Pyhrn motorway are also equipped with credit card machines. In contrast to the tolling machines, these credit card machines do not accept cash. Lanes leading to the credit card machine are clearly marked with striking orange road markings and are always located on the left of the toll station in the driving direction.
The credit card machines are user-friendly and easy to operate. In the event of unexpected problems (e.g. if a credit card is not accepted) the relevant information will appear on the machine’s screen. If you need further assistance, please press the help button and you will be connected with a relevant member of staff at the toll building.
As this lane is equipped with an automatic license plate identification system it may also be used by holders of annual toll cards and video toll cards. In the event that the toll bar does not open (because the vehicle’s license plate is obscured by dirt or snow for instance) hold your annual card or video toll card up to the credit card machine’s bar code scanner.
Credit card machines accept the following means of payment:
! There are “GO lanes” at all of ASFINAG’s special toll stations. These GO lanes, which are restricted exclusively for use by vehicles with a maximum permissible gross weight of over 3.5 tons (trucks, busses, large motorhomes), are located on the far right of the toll station in the driving direction and are clearly marked. Vehicles with a maximum permissible gross weight of less than 3.5 tons (cars, motorbikes, campervans) are NOT allowed to use these GO lanes. Any violation of this driving ban on GO lanes for vehicles with a maximum permissible gross weight of less than 3.5t will be punished without exception. Likewise, holders of annual toll cards and video toll cards are not allowed to use these special GO lanes.
