ASFINAG has introduced the state-of-the-art GO-Box system to ensure that the tolling process is as user-friendly, simple and efficient as possible for its customers. A brief overview explaining how the toll is levied for vehicles with a maximum permissible gross weight of over 3.5 tons and how correct payment of the toll is monitored and enforced is given below.
All vehicles with a maximum permissible gross weight of over 3.5 tons (trucks, buses and large motorhomes), which are entering a primary road network, must be equipped with an on-board unit - called GO-Box. Whenever a vehicle passes through a toll gantry a microwave signal is transmitted enabling the GO-Box to charge the appropriate amount and thus ensuring correct handling of tolling. A brief description of how the GO-Box works and is operated is given below. For more detailed information please go to www.go-maut.at.
The GO-Box – the user-friendly tolling system:
The GO-Box, which must be installed in every vehicle with a maximum permissible gross weight of over of 3.5 tons features a user-friendly and relatively simple design, which makes it easy to both handle and operate. The GO-Box is operated and proper functioning monitored using a push button, LED and sound signals.
The GO-Box must be mounted on the inside of the windscreen. For installation and operation instructions please refer to installation and operation instructions. Please note that the on-board unit must be installed in the area cleaned by the windscreen wipers between the middle of the vehicle and the steering wheel at the bottom edge of the windscreen. The windscreen wipers must not obscure the GO-Box when idle.
