The video toll card is a customer-friendly toll payment method which saves you having to stop at toll stations. Video toll cards are valid for one year from the date of issue. With the exception of the A11 (Karawanken motorway), the video toll system is offered on all special toll routes:
It takes just a few minutes to buy a video toll card on the ASFINAG website or by mobile phone. The video toll card is also sold at ASFINAG’s authorised sales partners’ outlets (the ARBÖ and ÖAMTC automobile clubs, for instance).
! When buying your video toll card on the internet or by mobile phone, it remains valid until it is used and has a maximum term of validity of one year from issuance.
! Please note that the video toll lane is restricted exclusively to cars without trailers whose vehicle width does not exceed two meters. Maximum speed on the video toll lane must not exceed 15 km/h.
On the Internet you can either buy a single trip ticket or an annual toll card and the relevant amount is simply charged to your credit card (we accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club). This user-friendly service is aimed at drivers of Austrian and foreign vehicles alike.
! Please note: The video toll card for the A 10 (Tauern motorway) is valid for driving through both the Tauern and the Katschberg tunnels (i.e. it is not possible to buy a separate video toll card for either the Katschberg or the Tauern tunnel). Video toll cards are not offered for the St. Michael/Höf access or exit.

Drivers who use special toll routes frequently may also purchase an annual video toll card, which is license plate bound (i.e. restricted to a specific license plate). This card is valid for one year from the date of issue and costs EUR 90. Holders of a valid annual toll sticker are, however, offered a discount when buying an annual video toll card online. Entering your toll sticker number (shown on the lower sticker section) enables you to purchase the annual video toll card at the reduced price of EUR 50.
! Please note: After having bought the video toll card, print out the receipt displayed on the screen. Provided that you have entered your correct e-mail address, you will also automatically receive a purchase confirmation. Upon request, holders of annual cards will also be issued a check-card size toll card at the toll station.
Holders of contracts with an Austrian mobile phone provider who want to use the video toll lane can also easily purchase a single trip in advance via their mobile phone. The video toll is paid using the “paybox” system. In the case of A1, Orange, T-Mobile and Telering customers the relevant amount is charged to their mobile phone account. Customers of all other mobile phone providers have the amount debited to their bank account via paybox. For further information on “paybox” registration, please refer to www.paybox.at.
A1 Business customers can use the “business paybox” system to pay for the toll card. For detailed information on “business paybox” registration please refer to www.a1.net.
! Note: You can skip step 2 in the above instructions if you enter the license plate you wish to acquire a video toll card for right at the initial registration and/or in order to buy further video toll cards for another vehicle license plate (i.e. “Maut A9 LF123A” for instance). Customers of the A1 mobile phone provider are also offered another, very simple way of registering online. Following registration at www.a1.net they are able to change the registered license plate number any time.
If the valid video toll card for your vehicle fails to be recognized by the system (because it is obscured by dirt etc.) your car will be directed to an open toll lane. Should this occur, please provide the receipt number you were sent by text message when you bought the video toll card as proof of payment.
! Spelling - e.g. "Maut A9 LF123A" - Please note: There must NOT be a space character between A and 9!
