Keep it safe. The lower toll sticker section is the carrier foil including serial number. It entitles you to buy an annual pass for a special toll route cheaply: you can get a one-time discount of 40 euros. The toll sticker section also serves as proof of purchase. If your windscreen breaks, this section must be presented to obtain a replacement toll sticker (or to have the toll sticker costs refunded).
The current toll regulations can be downloaded. Please also take note of all applicable appendices.
Yes. There are exceptions under certain circumstances. These concern people with disabilities. Exceptions also apply to army vehicles, emergency vehicles, and vehicles of an official foreign emergency service. For details, see the current toll regulations part A I.
Yes. A special rule applies to disabled people who have their normal or habitual residence (i.e. no hotels or second homes) in Austria; since 1998 they have been eligible for a free toll sticker. These are issued by the federal social office branch of the administrative district in which the disabled person has their normal residence. For information about eligibility, the addresses of the federal social office branches (Landesgeschäftsstellen des Bundesamtes für Soziales und Behindertenwesen) as well as useful details about the free toll sticker for disabled people, please see the document free toll sticker for disabled people (in German only).
Yes. Multi-track vehicles that have never been approved for the road and are taken for a test drive or are fitted with a trial run number plate (Überstellungskennzeichen) need a toll sticker if their own weight is less than 3.5 tons permissible total weight.
No, you can't do that. The toll sticker is issued for a specific vehicle and cannot be transferred to another vehicle.
All vehicles up to and including 3.5t mpw have to pay toll on motorways and expressways marked in orange. With the toll sticker, vehicles up to 3.5 tons mpw and motorbikes can use the motorways and expressways. No toll sticker is required for the particularly cost-intensive sections, the special toll routes, where special toll rates apply.
No. No additional toll sticker is required for trailers, caravans, motorbike sidecars etc.
Multi-track vehicles (even if registered as a motorbike) – regardless of track width and regardless of driving license class – require a car toll sticker according to the toll regulations. The only thing that counts is the fact that it is a multi-track vehicle.
If the vehicle (trike, quad, Can Am Spyder) is type-approved as having no windscreen, the car toll sticker, instead of being stuck to the windscreen, must be carried with you and produced on request.
No. 10-day toll stickers and 2-month toll stickers must be punched by the outlet. Toll stickers that have not been punched or attached to the windscreen are invalid. Please make sure that the outlet has punched the toll sticker correctly immediately after the purchase.

Yes, toll stickers are invalid if they are not attached or not punched. However, there are exceptions. If a vehicle is taken for a test drive or transferred, it is sufficient for a 2-month toll sticker to be merely clearly visible behind the windscreen. If you have a yearly toll sticker or a 10-day toll sticker, it always has to be attached to the windscreen. For vehicles that are type-approved as not having a windscreen, the toll sticker has to be carried with you. If you park your vehicle in a rest area where the toll sticker is compulsory, the toll sticker has to be placed inside the vehicle such that it can be clearly seen from the outside.
