Tolling regulations

The most important financing basis for ASFINAG is the company's right to collect tolls for the use of the motorways and expressways, which was granted to ASFINAG by the Republic of Austria.

Tolling Regulations Version 85 valid from November 1st, 2025.

Toll exemption for humanitarian aid transports to Ukraine

The temporary toll exemption for motor vehicles with Ukrainian vehicle licence plates on the entire high-level road network, introduced on 18th March 2022 due to the emergency situation in Ukraine, expired on 31st October 2025, including for motor vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes with Ukrainian vehicle licence plates. Since 1st November 2025, a vignette has therefore been required and the section toll must be paid.

Humanitarian aid transports to Ukraine due to the emergency situation will continue to be exempt from the obligation to pay tolls in Austria. The toll exemption applies regardless of the country of registration of the vehicle and applies to all vehicle types – from cars to HGVs and buses. All that is required is to apply for a toll exemption before starting the journey.

‘Humanitarian aid transports’ include both journeys for the purpose of transporting goods and commodities and for the transport of refugees.

Please fill out the following application forms as required and send them to ausnahmeantrag@asfinag.at. Applications for toll exemption must be submitted before the journey begins.
